Who we are

HandyQuote is operated by Essence Apps, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. There is no registered company number because Essence Apps trades as a sole trader.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using HandyQuote you agree to these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Privacy Policy. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company.

What HandyQuote does

HandyQuote helps tradespeople price jobs. You enter your business numbers (overheads, billable hours, hourly rate and profit margins) plus job details, and the app calculates a suggested price and shows a breakdown of labour, materials, overhead and profit. It can also produce AI-generated time, material and market-price estimates.

HandyQuote is a calculation and estimating tool. It is not accounting, tax, legal or insurance advice, and every figure it produces is a suggestion you remain responsible for checking. See our Disclaimer.

Your account

• You must be 18 or over and give accurate registration details.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done under your account.
• One free trial is permitted per person or business. We use a hashed record of your sign-up network to enforce this; attempting to create multiple trial accounts is a breach of these terms.
• Tell us through Support straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.

Free trial and paid plans

• Your account starts with a free allowance of 5 quotes, free of charge. This is a lifetime allowance per account, counted when a quote is created — deleting a quote does not restore a free slot.
• Once the allowance is used up, saving new quotes, editing existing quotes, and saving materials or margin profiles require HandyQuote Pro. Quotes you have already saved stay visible and readable.
• HandyQuote Pro costs £19 per month or £190 per year, in GBP (£). Prices are shown on the Pricing page and include any VAT that applies at the time of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the Billing tab of your Account page.
• If you cancel, you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
• If a payment fails we will show a notice in the app and retry. We may suspend Pro features if payment remains outstanding.

We may change our prices. Existing subscribers will be told before a change affects their renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Your content

You keep all rights in the quotes, client details, materials and other content you put into HandyQuote. You grant us only the licence needed to host, process and display that content so we can run the service for you. You are responsible for having the right to enter any client information you upload and for keeping it accurate.

Our intellectual property

HandyQuote, its software, design and branding belong to Essence Apps. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or create a competing product from the service, and you may not use automated tools to scrape or overload it.

Availability

We work to keep HandyQuote available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance, change features, or withdraw features that are no longer viable. If we discontinue the service entirely we will give you reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of any unused paid period.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using HandyQuote at any time and delete your account from the Account page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, that is used unlawfully, or where payment is not made. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that:

• We are not liable for lost profit, lost business, under-priced jobs, or losses arising from decisions you take based on figures the app produces.
• Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for HandyQuote in that period.
• If you use HandyQuote as a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights — nothing above affects them.

You agree to keep us harmless from claims brought by your own clients relating to prices you have quoted or work you have carried out.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continuing to use HandyQuote after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
